Why We Don't Have Red Light Therapy in Our Infrared Saunas

Updated: Jul 11

At Wave Wellness, we take pride in offering a range of therapies to support your health and wellness. One question we often receive is why we don't combine red light therapy with our infrared saunas. The answer lies in our commitment to providing the best possible experience and results for each type of therapy, and we believe that separating these therapies enhances their effectiveness.

Understanding Infrared Sauna Therapy

Infrared saunas use infrared heaters to emit infrared light, which is experienced as radiant heat. Radiant heat penetrates deep into the body, promoting detoxification, relaxation, improved circulation, and muscle recovery. The primary wavelengths used in infrared saunas range from near-infrared (700-1400 nm) to mid and far-infrared (1400-3000 nm and 3000-1,000,000 nm, respectively).

The Science Behind Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT), uses specific wavelengths of light to penetrate the skin and promote healing and rejuvenation. At Wave Wellness, we use Mito Red Light products in our dedicated red light therapy suites. These products offer a combination of red (660nm) and near-infrared (NIR) light (850nm), as well as additional wavelengths of 630nm and 830nm. These specific wavelengths are carefully selected for their ability to enhance cellular function, reduce inflammation, and stimulate collagen production.

Our Mito Red light therapy is 100% UV-free and uses only the red and near-infrared wavelengths that are clinically proven to be effective and safe. Research shows that these wavelengths used together have the most amazing effects on our bodies. Most wavelengths of light (UV, blue, green, yellow, etc.) are unable to penetrate the body, instead, they stay in the layers of the skin. However, the red and near-infrared light combination can penetrate deeper into the human body and can reach the cells, tissues, nerves, bones, and even the brain!

Why We Keep Them Separate

  1. Optimized Environments: Infrared saunas and red light therapy require different environmental conditions to be most effective. Infrared saunas generate significant heat, which can interfere with the cooler, more controlled environment needed for optimal red light therapy.

  2. Focused Treatment: By separating the two therapies, we can ensure that you receive the full benefits of each. In an infrared sauna session, you can focus on detoxification and relaxation. In a red light therapy session, you can target specific areas for skin rejuvenation, pain relief, or recovery without the distraction of heat.

  3. Equipment Quality: Our Mito Red Light devices are FDA-cleared and third-party tested to ensure the highest quality and safety. They are designed to deliver precise wavelengths of light in a controlled setting, which could be compromised if integrated into the sauna environment.

  4. Customization and Flexibility: Keeping the therapies separate allows us to offer more personalized and flexible treatment plans. You can tailor your sessions based on your specific needs, whether you want to focus on deep tissue healing with infrared sauna or skin health and inflammation reduction with red light therapy.

Experience the Best of Both Worlds

At Wave Wellness, we believe in providing the best possible experience for each type of therapy. By keeping infrared sauna and red light therapy separate, we ensure you receive the maximum benefits from each session. Visit us to experience the powerful combination of these therapies in their optimal environments and take a step towards better health and wellness.
